Powell Farms
consists of 210 acres in southwestern Kentucky. We started
in 1996 with 15 acres of Alfalfa hay that was intended for cow/calf feed.
A neighbor with horses looked at the test results from the Kentucky
Department of Agriculture which indicated 20% protein. He bought about
400 bales and referred enough of his friends to buy the entire crop.
This launched Powell Farms into the Alfalfa horse hay business. Our
customers range from the person with one horse who needs only a few bales at
a time to the horse farm or stable owners who order by the trailer load. We have
horse quality alfalfa, orchard grass and TEFF grass in small
square bales both pure and mixed.
